i was just wonderin why you have to have it out? can you not just stay on meds...as you will be on meds after the op

Hi, I have to go into hospital on the 19 jan to have it out then i will be on thyroxine for the rest of my life, hopefully after that we'll be able to have kids....at last. Dawn

I have a friend with Graves Disease, linked to thyroid problems (can't remember whether it's over or under active). Was warned about fertility problems, and had practically given up hope of ever having children.....but has just had a baby daughter and is over the moon!! Hope this helps! Natalie

hiya i have just had a blood test cos last time mine was on the borderline how do you feel my sister has the opposit and she takes tablets dont think it effects fertilty

Hi Dawn...my mother had over active thyroid ...not sure about affectin fertility...are you on meds?is it under control yet? Ellen

Has anyone out there had there thyroid taken out, i have been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid and apparently it's affecting my fertility. Any one else experienced this. Dawn
