First of all – THANKS DONNA for starting the thread to wish me well and thanks to all of you who have sent Rob and I good wishes. OK, so why do I feel a fraud? Well, perhaps I should say here that my appointment today was initially for 15.30. The hospital rang me about a week ago asking if they could change my appointment time to 13.00 because they had quite a few people all booked in for 15.30 – great I said – no probs there. We duly arrived there at 12.40 and waited, and waited and waited……. the waiting room started to get VERY full. Finally at 14.10 my name was called (Gaynor smiled at the look of jealousy on so many other faces). I was then told straight away that I was only going to be measured up and marked today. (Hmph thought I – getting myself all built up for the first session and it wasn’t going to happen today.) This in itself was a long process because the two tumours had to be done in different rooms by different machines. After the completion of the second one, a bloke put an identity bracelet on me (I later found out that this was identification to start the radiothereapy – hooray I thought). He went and my oncologist gave me a presciption to go to the hospital pharmacy to get some anti-sickness drugs, by which time I had forgotten I had the ID bracelet on. Rob and I were trudging up the corridor to the pharmacy when someone called my name – apologies were made and the ID bracelet cut off cos radiotherapy wasn’t starting until Wednesday and a schedule of treatment given to me. Two lots of radiation for five days in two different rooms – BUT the first one will now be Wednesday !!!! Oh how I feel for those poor souls who have operations delayed – it must be hell. I just think the hospital screwed up on the fact the time it would all take with me i.e. that I need two separate sessions. C’est la vie!! So – thanks for all your wishes – I will carry them forward to Wednesday. Love and hugs Gaynor xxx
