I became a "nanny" at 39, and now, at 48, have 5 grandchildren, and one on the way. I was also a teenage mum, at 17 and we married when we were able to afford to. We have 3 kids and have been married for 30 years this year. I don't regret one moment of being a young mum, or young nan. Age doesn't necessarily come into it. Either you make a good parent or you don't.

I was 38 when my grandson arrived. I also have 2 step grandsons. Twinkle - I was 17 when I married and had my son and 17 years later gave birth to my daughter - same father. Still married after 33 years and the struggle was just as bad 2nd time around! Jacky

I'm not saying that all teenage mums and dads are bad people or that they don't love their babies; the girl in question is a qualified hairdresser and her son is healthy and happy. BUT she has struggled and her mother was heartbroken to see her daughter making all the same sacrifices and going through all the hardships that she went through herself. As for the trouble at school; well you can't expect 14-year-old lads to behave with maturity and compassion, can you?

Twinkle Hi, My daughter was 17 when she had her first baby and 23 when she had her second, both have the same father, my daughter was helped and looked after by me her mum, as well as her partner I was 19 when my daughter was born, i was married and still am to the same man we celebrate 35 years this year. women today tend to have babies later than they did in the 60's/70's My eledest grandaughter is 16 and has brought sunshine into our lives, i wouldnt swap a minute of it. Thankyou for your oppinion Twinkle, which i do take note of but please do'nt think that all young pregnancies end up like the one you have mentioned, i am sure all these young grandparents on here will agree with me on that one!! Love and best wishes Helenxx

Liz Mostly girls as well,do get them mixed up but I put that down to "SENIOR MOMENTS". It's best when they are all together,so hilarious as we all act silly. It's brilliant when there are family parties going on as really it's the only time we all get together. Sue

My mother may have been 37 but I certainly wasnt 14 and I didnt have crabs or things written about me on toilet walls. I was 18 when I had my son :-) Shaz x

I don't wish to offend, but I hardly think prolific breeding amongst youngsters is something to be celebrated. The youngest granny I ever met was 29. The 14-year old mother didn't get congratulations; she got crabs and painful home-truths written about her on toilet walls.
