Has anyone out there had problems with their pituitary gland.? I have been told that I have a benign pituitary tumour which causes a high prolactin level. I have taken the recommended drugs for this, but they didn't do me any favours, so I have stopped taking them - I am considering reflexology and alternative medicines - just wondered if anyone has had a similar experiences Clare.

hi clare, i really hope you have'nt come off your drugs without first consulting the specialist first. i would suggest, you only consider alternative treatments, that are recommended by the hospital. best wishes....bryan.

Hi Clare, my mum is on Brimocriptine as she has a benign tumour. It makes her feel awful, sickness, tiredness etc. She is having Reflexology at her local centre, she finds it helps eleviate some of the side effects. A friend who is a GP has told her that a cranial massage will also help. Talk to someone about your medication , there maybe an alternative you can take. All the best. Joanne.

I did come off the medication with the approvement of the so called 'experts' , who quite frankly haven't been very supportive at all. I was taking the drug Cabergoline and it gave me terrible side effects - IBS, depression etc - not very pleasant. I am pinning my hopes on reflexology!!! Clare

Clare .... would surgery to remove the tumour be an option? I think it is carried out via the nose...the pituitary is accessible this way. Dee x

Apparently my tumour is very small - too small to operate on successfully and not necessary - drug treatment does seem to be the preferred option - if you can put up with the side effects!!!! Clare
