Hi Joanne, i didn't suffer but was constantly concerned about this. Did you have this with your other children? I really feel for you with all that testing but it WILL be worth it when that bootiful baby arrives! OHHHHH i'm sooo broody. Sarahx |

I was checked for it a few times, with the glucose tolerance test but thankfully it never developed into diabetes. My friend had it with 4/5 of her pregnancies, but she was fine. The only thing was that she did have big babies, they were all over 9lb, which they said could happen, and the diabetes did go after each pregnancy. My hubby is a diabetic, but not through pregnancy! LOL Take care and look forward to your wee (or big) baby coming. LOL Christine |

Hi I've been diabetic all my life including thru 2 pregnancies. Normal blood sugar level is considered to be 4 - 9. You'll probably hear that diabetics are supposed to have huge babies. Not always true, mine were 7.5 pounds and 5 pounds 15 oz respectively. Anything you need to know please ask Lisa |

As I said Joanne, my friend never developed diabetes, except during her pragnancies and was and is fine now. My husband became diabetic 3 years ago and it does run in his family. He doesn't have to inject insulin, thankfully, but his is controlled by medication. Christine |

Hi Joanne I had it when I was pregnant with twins!! I went through all the tests (very worried at the time). Had to give up all sugar products too. Twins were born two weeks early. Not huge babies but big for twins. One was 5lb 10 and the other 5lb 7. But all was well after they were born everything returned to normal and I did not develope diabeties. Hope this helps to put yor mind at rest!! Bestwishes Sue |

Joanne You can buy cook books from the hospitals diabetic centre. Really good recipes and the books can be used after you have had the baby. The books are not expensive range from £3-00 to about £5-00. I had them for my late husband cos he was diabetic. Sue |
