Try contacting local council - a/ get the traffic wardens round b/ the council might run a considerate builders scheme. If they do - they should get someone round to check complaints Liz

If you have adropped curb to gain access to and from your drive,and your progress is hindered you have alegal right to request the police to remove the offending vehicle or vehicles. Write to the head office of the firm concerned with a copy to the general foreman on site and explain that you are not prepared to keep verbally complaining regarding not being able to gain access to and from your drive. It is your intention to report the problem to the police and request that they investigate your complaint and if necessary to remove the offending vehicle. Rupert Bear.

Clare, i would phone their head office and tell them you are phoning a) the police and b) the council and if it still goes on (I am assuming this is a large well known building firm ) write to the Citizen. Check with the council if they are allowed to park their HGVs along the road and stress the danger with the schools there. if they a re building a large estate they will be there a while so best to get it sorted. How about if you parked across your entrance yourself, would it be dangerous for you? Ann glos

go for it claire , wot was just suggested about it being illegal to block your drive, i can imagine how evil you felt, i have had many a run in with work men who think they can do as they like , i get so rattled by it, i become incensed. call their head office too im sure they will make every attempt to keep on your good side,

If you have a proper 'drive' with a dropped kerb - ring the police - it is illegal for them to block your 'exit' - not sure about if they are blocking you from getting in tho! Anne in Kent

MEN. well the day i've had.they are building houses down the road.we have traffic calming outside my nextdoor neighbours house as there are 3 schools.they keep bringing these hgv lorries down the road with building supplies on.where do they park?outside my house!i had to ask 3 times to get in and out of my drive today.3rd time they moved and promptly put another outside before i had time to get the car out.that was it i flipped my lid!!over comes the foreman,sarcastic sod!!we are only doing our job he said.yeah right outside my house..after i gave him what for he walked off muttering bloody women always moaning.what do you think i should do tomorrow?punch his light out or ring head office,made me evil!!!grrrrrrrrrr!!
