Hi there I have just heard some news that has made me feel so good and uplifted yet so humble. In life sometimes small tasks are so greatly appreciated by others that the BIG tasks go by without so much as a thanks or apppreciation. I wont go into the details but tonight a GR member made me feel so happy and honoured to have helped them feel such joy and happiness I could honestly burst inside. I have read so many threads on this site but to be honest I wish more of us who have been given the pleasure to help others find happiness took the step forward to congratulate themselves in feeling so good. "SO TO ME I CONGRATULATE MYSELF FOR HELPING SOMEONE ELSE" It may sound modest but heh Im glad I made someone feel so good. Love MO xx

Good for you Moira, that's a lovely story. Lindy in the Algarve is my special person - she found my living uncle for me in South Africa, within just a few hours, and then wouldn't let me send her some flowers lol!! This is a great site, never come across such lovely, helpful people. Mandy xx

hi moira,i so appreciate people like you on genes!!! so congratrulations!!!! you should feel good, ive only ever helped 3 people but just giving help instead of receiving made me feel amazing...i suffer from bad memory so sometimes i get lookups for the same things without realising..but people are so nice and are always willing. As a newbie(member of under a yr)without help i would be so stuck and irritable and probably given up by now.

Well done Moira and congratulations and good luck Karen. When is it to be screened? Perhaps a thread 'An Award goes to....' could be started. Jacky :-)

It does feel good when you have helped someone and you know that you've broken down a brick wall for them. Someone contacted me a while ago concerning an ancestor in my tree. Initially, I didn't feel I could help as this ancestor was merely married to a distant ancestor, so I knew nothing about the family name. After a while, I looked back through my notes and noted that I had her ancestor down as a marriage witness on my ancestor's marriage details. From there, I was able to prove a link and a look-up on the 1891 census gave her some new ancestor names. So, that felt satisfying.

Hi Moira, I know the feeling! I just wish there was more feedback from people that we have helped, because in helping them we have that wonderful feeling of achievement. Especially, when our "brickwalls" are driving us "up the wall" Unfortunately, some people just disappear never to be heard from again. Which leaves me wondering and a little envious that the person has not shared, not that it is any of my business, but it is really nice to know.! Lindy;-)) Annoying the living and disturbing the dead!
