I need a copy of my divorce. From way back in 1976. My then husband, was in the Army and I am not sure where he was in the world when he filed for our divorce. We had to wait until we had been married for three years before we could actually apply for one. Thanks Jennyx

I got a copy of mine by speaking to my old solicitor and finding the ref, then had to go to the court where it was held??? How practical is that for you???? failing that do youknow which court it was??? try calling them for advice, or even your local court now and aask them for advice

Shelli. At the wise old age 18yrs, I met and married my first husband in the space of four months. Moved down to Dover, Army married quarters, straight after. Marriage lasted only four months and i went back home to mum. I have no idea what court the divorce was heard in, just three years later. No idea of solicitors he used or where. The problem I have now, is getting my passport renewed. I had one in 1973 but have never used it. I have changed my name twice since and have to have proof of my name changes for me to get a new passport.

OH Jenny what about CAB, p'haps they could shed some light???? I was lucky, I divorced in 1993 and i remarried in 2002. But I also deed polled my name back to maiden name in 1995. So when i married I was amrrying from my maiden name although it states i was divorced. think mentiones married name. I still had to prove the divorce though. But now as proof of ID i show my mariage licence and my birth cert, andif they get really funny my deed poll showing name change. It;s just as bad with my daughter as i changed hers by deed poll in 1995 as well, then again in 2002. When she started high school i had to prove she was who i said she was. I had to take birth cert, and two deeds with me!!!! Dread the day she decides to marry LOL
