Hi Val Hope your toothache is a easing When my daughter got married the theme was Peach and Cream I wore a Peach outfit with a hat to match and she wore a Ivory/Cream dress and flowers in her bouquet were Cream& Peach Roses the wedding cake was Peach and Cream as were the table decorations at the reception When my son got married I wore a navy patterned washable dress.(I had to look after the 10 week old baby) no hat The bride wore a green outfit and a borrowed hat and just had a spray of freesia The wedding cake was very plain 2 tier with sprays of freesia tumbling down The reception was held at the local pub and the other 5 grandkids thought it was great fun taking their sandwiches to feed the ducks& geese When I was getting married I went with my future mother in law to pick a hat for her to wear on the big day. She tried lots on and she looked terrible in them, then she picked one with a veil that suited her and I said yes have that one it hides your face I went to a wedding recently where the bridgrooms mother just had a feathery thing on one side of her head the type that Posh Spice wears and it looked very effective Love Brenxx

Val The bride's mum is the person to consult. If she is wearing a hat then I think you should. If she isn't, then you might look like you are trying to upstage her. It would also be a good idea to have a chat about colours - you don't want to clash! nell

Hi Val - l hate wearing hats, the only time l have worn one (posh wise) is at my nephews wedding. My son and wife said it was up to me - so l did'nt wear one, but wish l had now, it really would have finished my outfit off and the brides mum wore one, plus l just think as grooms mum l should have, you no what l mean?? Lou has a good idea, take your suit to a shop when trying on hats, you're sure to look a stunner and gobsmacked how easy you feel in it - go girl!!! jude sarf wales :o)

Hi Val, congratulations to your son and the bride to be. Have you tried one of those alice bands things with all the little feathery bits attached, if your not a hat person this might be better for you. Hope your toothache is sorted soon.

Hi Val! - still go to the dentist won't you? Abcesses can die down for a bit and then get worse! DO IT! lol I didn't wear a hat to my daughter's wedding because I look so awful in one of any description! If you haven't got a head for hats - you ain't! LOL But I have to agree - they do make an outfit more special if you have one on - pulls it all together somehow! Try one and see! Magsxx

Morning Val, I've been told that hats suit me, but don't get the chance to wear them, lol, we can look when we meet up. Hats complete an outfit, so you must wear one, lol Helen

I never wear hats Val and can understand how you feel but I think one would add the finishing touch to your outfit.
