Sandra A nudge is when you add a message to an existing thread that says "nudge" or "bump" or "this is for Jane Doe who is looking for info" or whatever. This will bring the thread to the top of the message board. It's a way of retrieving information people are looking for - for example they may ask a question about censuses and there's an existing thread which can help. Or, people may nudge a thread to put it up top to remind people about it, keep it going. Once you have nudged, you can then delete your nudge message and the thread will still stay at the top of the board. Some people get cross about phantom nudgers, but otherwise you can end up with a thread of 20 messages, half of which could be nudges. Hope this helps. nell
