My husband asked for their help in tracing his adult son a few years ago. They said they'd found him and asked my husband to write a letter which they said they would forward on. My husband wrote a lovely letter but no reply ever came. He was heartbroken - still is really. But the Salvation Army wouldn't under any circumstances divulge the son's whereabouts. So the search goes on.......

Yes shirley,I had one of my sons traced and found when he was on the drugs trail in London bout twenty years ago.He was found. The Salvation Army are successful because they respect the privacy of the person you seek. They will not reveal their whereabouts to you. They tell you if the person is well and they will tell the person you are seeking them. But that is all. We were glad to know that our son was found, but it was years before he came home. Now 43 and full of deep regrets for the lost years that he cannot even remember. Good Luck,All the Best-Rose

A friend asked for the Salvation Army's help last year, hoping to contact her stepbrother not seen since 1986. They contacted him and it was then up to him to decide whether or not he wanted contact with my friend. As I understand it, if he didn't want contact, my friend would not know that he has been found, but he did, so my friend's details were sent to him and he made contact himself and they met up around Christmas time.
