Ann What an interesting find. Have you ever wondered when the shoe company started up, or finished trading? It might be worth checking.

Renovating a photo of my grandmother, I took the frame apart & found a paper bag padding the back of the frame. probably placed there in the 50s/60s by my Aunt in Acton. The bag is for Walters Modern shoe repair Service 332 Horn lane Acton & at 35b Ealing Road Wembley & 9 Newpond Parade Ruislip gardens Ruislip. The clever part is on the bag there are two measures, one is a ruler in inches and parallel to the is another ruler type diagram of shoe sizes. When I put my heel on the bottom line of the later my toe reaches to the size five mark and that is the size I take. On the ruler it is almost 6 inches. The 'motto' of the shop was "We better serve ourselves by serving others best". Ann Glos
