Rose, If you go back to the vet, ask if the mites live in bedding as well as on the cat. They may have set up home in bedding and carpets like fleas are inclined to do. There is a spray you can buy to treat carpets. Rosemary(Essex)

I know that you have to be EXTREMELY careful with the used of disinfectants on cats. The only one you can used is peroxide. I have just been using a spray bottle, for misting plants filled with warm slightly soapy water.I didn't think it would hurt. Rose

Hi Rose My cats had them when they first came from the pet shop but that was 19 years ago! I think I was told to dip cotton buds in surgical spirit and wipe round their ears. Hope someone can verify this Jeanette x

My cat has ear mites and I have tried proprietry brands from pet shops and stuff that goes onthe back of her neck once a month from the vet.Yet as soon as I stop the treatment the mites are back.SHE NEVER GOES OUT,I MEAN NEVER. She picked up the first infestation when she went into the Vet's clinic overnight for a thyroid op.!!!She has never had them before, What more can I do.It is costing me the earth-Rose
