Classic kids' toy Mr Potato Head has been given a sinister film makeover for the first time in its 50-year history. Makers Hasbro have lifted the covers of Darth Tater to mark the launch of the third Star Wars prequel Revenge of the Sith. He has been clad in the black mask and cape of the ultimate Star Wars villain, Darth Vader. Images of Darth Tater have been hugely popular downloads on the internet. A UK Hasbro spokeswoman said: "This is the first time in Mr Potato Head's 50-year history that he has been created as a film character. "It's partly because of the overwhelming interest in the film and partly because of the uncanny resemblance. "This has taken the US by storm, so we are expecting big things after the product is launched here." The new image is not Mr Potato Head's first film link. In 1995, he appeared on cartoon film Toy Story and the follow-up four years later. |
