My family too moved up and down the same street in the late 1800's believe it was quite common to do that! Glad you found what you wanted. Linda x

You know how you find things when you aren't looking? Well, I got my great-grandmother's birth cert which gave her address as 11 Smarts Row, Cambridge. On various censuses the address changes to 3 Smarts Row, 13 Smarts Row etc. I did a search for this place on streetmap uk co but it didn't show up. I assumed it would probably have been a slum narrow street with terraced houses which had probably been demolished and forgot about it. In 1865 she got married in Islington. I saw someone on the Records Board had the 1861 Cambridge census so asked her to look for Emma's family - she wasn't there, but the rest of them were in Staffordshire Street. Again, I couldn't get this on streetmap uk. I was looking at a Cambridge map for a different reason - finding how far a college was from the station for a friend - and looked for the railway station - the station is marked, but they drew a train on the railway track further east of the station. I looked at the train first as I thought that was a symbol for the station, and just above it - yes, Staffordshire Street - and running into Staffordshire Street - you've guessed - Smarts Row.! Chuffed. Even if all the houses have been demolished and rebuilt. Very chuffed. nell So when I next go to Cambridge I shall
