A beautiful ferrel cat has adopted me. She had her kittens in my garden, the cat protection people trapped her and took her to be spayed and found homes for her kittens, Then they brought her back. She always comes when I call her and she can eat for England, she will eat in the kitchen if I leave the door open, and sleeps on a carpet covered box outside by the kitchen door under cover, I would love to stroke her, but she just hisses at me. Talk about biting the hand that feeds her. Do you think I will ever be able to stroke her?

FOUND THIS ON A FORUM ABOUT THESE CATS... If you want to keep them as a pet it is a must to not let them out. If they cant be made into a pet you will know within a week.

Many years ago, in London, we we given a factory/ferrel cat. upon release in our house she did a "Wall of death" around the room.........eventually, she came to accept us and when we moved to peterborough.........she found the bathroom, and that was her domain.........if you needed Sandy, that was where she was.......

Jennifer Try enticing her to play with some string on the end of a stick - that will help to keep some distance between if she is unsure - and of course a small ball always goes down a treat :O) I think I saw on an animal programme once, where an antisocial cat was be 'socialised' - and I am sure they used a stick with a feather on the end and just gently stroked it across it's back - eventually they progressed to stroking and grooming. Despite living in aflat, the cat's protection league pleaded with my dad to adopt 2 feral cats. They became extremely affectionate, even allowing my dad's friend's (later his wife)cat into their small domain!! When my dad was dying of a brain tumour caused by cancer, one cat died of a brain tumour, the other, when dad was spending his last few weeks at home in a coma, didn't leave his bed, and died a few hours after my dad. Jennifer, if this cat has adopted you, she's obviously more than willling to eventually accept your ways. I have a cat that adopted me after being a stray for 2 years. She was determined to live wth me, as I had 2 dogs and 3 other cats in the house when she first walked over the threshold!! maggie
