hi im told that my grt grt grandad died in this battle,originally i thought he died in the somme.ive checked commonweath war graves site but non match him...he was born 1881c in blackburn/bacup area would have been married to catherine(nee mcmanus)and had five children all living in stacksteads, bacup...where else can i look??or can anyone help in any way..id be sooo grateful.thanks.xx

I have been told that the biggest killer was not the injuries on the field but when they were well enough to be invalided home catching an infection in the wound once they got there. Have you had a go at the appropriate time in the deaths index? Abigail

Hi abigail, ive looked in all the usual places but unless ive missed it when scanning through names....?? I was told he is def buried in france somewhere?? not avin much luck im afraid.x

Cherie, Have you tried different variations on the spelling of his name? Do you know what regiment he served in. My Grandad was in the South Lancs and I was able to narrow down my search on the CWGC site, when they spelt his name wrong, and eventually found him.

thanx joy will take a look there. Hi carol i believe it was the lancs fusiliers but not 100% certain on that.not sure they could really spell william king wrong??could they??
