in the same vein as the Chris Rea (?) one that was posted yesterday... Bob Dylan:Heart of mine (as covered by Norah Jones) Heart of mine be still, You can play with fire but you'll get the bill. Don't let her know Don't let her know that you love her. Don't be a fool, don't be blind Heart of mine. Heart of mine go back home, You got no reason to wander, you got no reason to roam. Don't let her see Don't let her see that you need her. Don't put yourself over the line Heart of mine. Heart of mine go back where you been, It'll only be trouble for you if you let her in. Don't let her hear Don't let her hear you want her. Don't let her know she's so fine Heart of mine. Heart of mine you know that she'll never be true, She'll only give to others the love that she's gotten from you. Don't let her know Don't let her know where you're going. Don't untie the ties that bind Heart of mine. Heart of mine so malicious and so full of guile, Give you an inch and you'll take a mile. Don't let yourself fall Don't let yourself stumble. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime Heart of mine.

actually Brian, on this occasion things aren't quite as straightforward as they seem, the empathy might be slightly misplaced :$ Sheila, will do later :)

Don't think I've heard her sing this, but she has got a very listenable voice. Speaking of covers, I like the Beautiful South's recent version of The Zombies' "This Will Be Our Year". THIS WILL BE OUR YEAR The warmth of your love's like the warmth from the sun And this will be our year, took a long time to come Don't let go of my hand now the darkness is gone And this will be our year, took a long time to come And I won't forget the way you held me up when I was down And I won't forget the way you said "darling I love you," you gave me faith to go on Now we're there, only just begun And this will be our year, took a long time to come The warmth of your smile, smile for me little one And this will be our year, took a long time to come You don't have to worry, all your worry days are gone And this will be our year, took a long time to come And I won't forget the way you held me up when I was down And I won't forget the way you said "darling I love you," you gave me faith to go on Now we're there, only just begun And this will be our year, took a long time to come

Andy, yes excellent song, I have that album and I think thats my favoutire track - don't know the original though. The Norah Jones/Dylan cover is on an album called New York by the Peter Malik Group (featuring Norah Jones), which was recorded before she became known (but cunningly reeased shortly afterwards :) )

Interesting, Paul, will check that out further. As you say, amazing what you can sell though once you are known ;-) The Zombies who performed the original are probably better known for that well known 60s track "She's Not There" (covered by Carlos Santana) but they were finished as a band before the 60s were out. However, they released a gem of a final album called 'Odessey & Oracle' in 1968, it's become a bit of a lost classic. It also contained 'Time of the Season', another well known hit.
