I suppose that list is reminscent of when they brought out that Millenium 2 cd compilation, back in 2000, in order to try and include the "best" songs from the last 4 decades. Problem is that when it comes to best song choices, mine are a lot less obvious than those listed.

I saw this list a few weeks ago, and I think you're right Andy, one per year. odd selections in many cases though - songs that were picked by the Brits as the best song of that year at the time were not included in the list. Don't think I can choose from that top 5, although I'd discount Kate Bush 9not one of my faves) and Will Young. So the other 3 then lol

I think a song has been picked from each year of the last 25 years, Louise. I was quite tickled by Joy Division making the top 5, very unusual.

Looks like they were picked by people of a certain age. Probably about the same age as me - which is of course 21! lol. Wonder if everyone starts tuning in to Radio 2 when they hit a certain age? My choice out of those 5 would be We are the Champions. Jeanette x

This is to determine the best song released in the last 25 years. It's been whittled down to a Top 5. The choices are: Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division Angels - Robbie Williams We Are The Champions - Queen Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush Leave Right Now - Will Young If you go to the Radio 2 website, it tells you how to vote for your fave choice out of those 5. For your interest, these are the choices that missed out on being in the top 5: Night Fever - Bee Gees London Calling - Clash Heroes - David Bowie That's Entertainment - The Jam I Don't Want To Talk About It - Rod Stewart Look of Love - ABC Golden Brown - The Stranglers True - Spandau Ballet Careless Whisper - George Michael Holding Back The Years - Simply Red Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel Sacrifice - Elton John Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack Why - Annie Lennox Fields of Gold - Sting Kiss From A Rose - Seal Wonderwall - Oasis Yellow - Coldplay Babylon - David Gray Dry Your Eyes - The Streets My vote from that top 5 went for Kate Bush.
