karen, it all depend on his mood, he phoned home yesterday to say from what could be made out that he had dropped a weight on to his x-box, i think he thought that we would all go into mourning with him!

Shaz, Your right, deep down in their hearts they do love us, but sometimes it is difficult to remind myself of that. I suppose it's just a question of take a deep breath, sit back and pray for the day when they leave home. Karen.

I used to have great conversations with my teens when they were young too and believe it or not they seemed to love me to bits back then..... Now they grunt and groan and at times I wonder if they even like me!! But I have discovered that no matter how difficult it seems it does get better and deep down the love is still there. Recently I came across an essay that one of mine had done (aged 15) it was about the person they respect and admire most... That Person ??? Me!! I wept for ages when I read it it began... the person I most admire and respect is my mum. And at the party of my 18 year old he stood up and took the mic and said (amongst other things) I'd like to thank my mother... she organised all of this... I have been a lazy teen and not lifted a finger! The next day however he was back to yeah, cool, whatever, which is by the way the next step up from Grunt! LOL Shaz xx

But, they ONLY do this to the parents. With everybody else they manage to converse like a normal human!!!!!!!!

There's no hope for me then. When I ask my three year old daughter what she has been doing at nursery she said she had a headache in her tongue and could not tell me! My son does "nothing" all day at school and "doesn't know" what he had for dinner. He is six. Will mine become more communicative do you think and is it worse having a chatterbox teenager than a chatterbox toddler? Abigail
