I was good, used to have the occasional drink, but not before I was 17. We didn't have the pill and were scared to get pregnant so no sex. had to be home by 9.30 until I was about 18 (and i had Tony as a boyfriend from the age of 15 and 10 months! parents were always wary because the lads we mixed with were all Navy lads. My social life centred on the church really, youth club etc. i am not saying we were angels but we were not violent (boys or girls, navy or teddy boys), I never saw any of my friends or acquaintances drunk and wouldn't have known what drugs looked like. But it is all so different now, what was going on in america then finally got here and we always have to do everything to extremes. Permissive society, let them express themselves, etc etc. having said that there are stll some lovely teenagers around, they are by no means all bad, we have Lucia and daniel as proof of that. I was good, but the opportunities for being bad weren't very great. In those days, no one had cars or motorbikes, so the only transport was bus or shanks' pony. I had to get the last bus back, which went at about 11.00. I never smoked as I associated smoking with hacking coughs, not at all sexy or glamorous. I didn't do and didn't know anyone who did drugs - I didn't know what cannabis looked like until I was in my mid-twenties! As for sex - the local boys just didn't turn me on. They were either wet or scruffy. I enjoyed myself at college but only by getting a bit tipsy occasionally in the subsidised college bar. Now there are children my elder son's age [13] who he knows are smoking, drinking, doing drugs, shoplifting and bunking off school to do it. nell

My mum left home when I was 13 ( nothing I did!!) and I ended up looking after the house, shopping and cooking for my dad and older brother. I had a steady boyfriend from just after I turned 16 and married him 13 months later. 34 years later, best thing I did so I haven't really had time to do the naughty teenage things although I know all about them as my friends did! jacky

A lot of teenagers in our town get involved in drink and drugs and do things I wouldn't like to mention lol. A lot of us are less innocent than you think we are! Our county has the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in the whole of Scotland!! Lucia :-)

christine that must have been hard for you with your mum passing away.my mothers mum died at that age and she left home and lived on the streets for a while then joined the navy.this was in the 50's so she didn't have the support to get back on her feetxxxxx(:

I was such a goody two shoes! My mum had died when I was 14 so when pals were going up town after school, I was going shopping for food and rushing home to tidy and make the tea! When I moved into the nurses home at 17, must admit I went a bit mad for a while! Never smoked or drank though, made up for that in later years! LOL Christine
