Hi Audrey, you're quite free to roam any beaches although if you have a big find you'll have to notify the local coroner. On farmland you'll have to get the permission of the farmer and will probably have to draw up a short contract (scrap of paper even) to say what percentage each of you would get if you have a find. If you have my sort of luck though you'll find beer cans, small change etc etc. Do be careful and don't use your hands to dig anything up from the beach, use a small trowel or something. There are a lot of needles out there!! Above all, have fun :-))

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies, I think I shall head off to the beach in the summer and try out my new 'toy' .... preferably after everybody's gone home!!! knowing my luck though I might 'detect' the odd button, ring-pull or bottle top but it will be fun. Audrey

HI Audrey I have a gold detector and it is my hobby searching for gold. Mine is a Minelab 2100. and I am very pleased with it. I have even found gold with it here in Aust. The last 2 nice nuggets just before Christmas. Where about do you live as each place has its own rules. In Australia we have the golden triangle where the biggest nugget in the world was found. Let me know what info you require and I will see what I can tell you. Fred I will tell Liz what you said. Watch that stick..... Tony.. You live next door to the golden triange why arnt you out there. The walking is good for you...

I've just acquired a metal detector and know nothing of the rules and regulations you may have to abide by ie- where you are or not allowed to use it etc, I would be glad of some help on this one, cheers. Audrey
