If some one drank 2 bottles of wine at 11.5% volume and another drank half bottle of whiskey at 44% volume, is that the same? just curious. Kim |

Its not the volume, its the alcoholic units. I believe unit of whisky (one measure) = one unit of wine (a wineglass). The average bottle of wine = 6 glasses, so 2 bottles would be 12 units. Not sure how many measures there are in a bottle of whisky but I am quite sure that if you can drink an entire bottle of whisky in one sitting you must have cast iron guts. nell |

I'm too much of a coward to take chances, so stick to the one glass of wine! |

Marion I am still impressed. I could HELP to drink 2 bottles with other people, but I couldn't possibly managed 2 bottles by myself. I did drink a bottle once in company and I was extremely pifflicated. Now I am older 2 glasses is almost my limit. I can only drink whisky if I have a cold. nell |

I think it depends. I can't drink like I used to, but I can manage on gins and vodkas because I always drink a full bottle of tonic with it to dilute it. I couldn't drink the same volume of wine. Still it makes us older types cheap dates, eh? nell |

as far as I know, the stronger the alcohol, the faster it's absorbed into the body - because it's more concentrated. thats why something like absinthe (or, as I found out a while back, polish vodka !) very you drunk very quickly and can be quite dangerous |
