Holy cow!! I finally made a connection with someone who has contact with a direct descendant of my 2nd and 3rd set of Great Grandparents ( Charrett)... she even gave me info I didn't know about!! Well just that alone is worth the $16 Canadian I paid for a subscription here. Gord

Oh you're not kidding :) My mother doesn't understand my total obsession with this, she has no interest whatsoever in her background, just rolls her eyes upwards everytime I mention I found another of her great grandparents. I'm gonna need a Valium to sleep tonight j/k

I've been doing this 20 years now... I have actually met some of the siblings of my now departed Great Grandparents, and they were all pushing 90 and each and everyone was thrilled to learn I was a grandchild of their sister or brother and welcomed me with open arms, but then I have been greeted with a literal slam of the door by others. I actually had one cousin here in Ontario yell at me accusing me of invading her family's privacy and basically told me to **** off.

I often get strange looks when I try to explain my obsession with all this! I explain that it's good to start obsessing while grandparents and other "oldies" are still alive! It is an obsession though, I've spent a (student) fortune! Jo - 19 and addicted!

I've only been doing this Tree stuff for a year (this month), and I find it interesting that if I find another ancestor or more and mention it, my family jokingly roll their eyes and say "What? More?" But if I don't mention it for a while they get a bit worried, then THEY are the ones asking if I've found anyone. I've found several definite distant cousins on here at G.R., and there are others where we're not sure of a connection - yet! Oops, got carried away there; forgot to say, Gordon, well done on what you've found! It's a great feeling, isn't it. Glenys.
