I wonder if they will ever permit it to be tested for DNA traces? Len

Well, it could still be 1000 years old (too young), or 3000 years old (too old). Also, if you consider the amount of cloth produced over that period, the chance of it coming into contact with Jesus (if he existed) is pretty slim. Things like the Shroud will *always* be something that is taken on faith not fact, and no amount of dating (showing that it IS or ISN'T from the correct time period) is likely to change that. For example, look at the bible. Despite the fact that the OT has been shown to be a collage of different stories from different sources (not largely the word of Moses), people still take it as authoritive. Not having a dig, just that trying to use facts to assertain the validity is a worthless exercise IMO.

Yes, me too. I am lucky enough to have seen the Shroud when it was last displayed (2001? not sure of the year) and it was an amazing experience. I was so glad to go as my dear mum always wanted to see it & I felt we saw it together. Have relatives on my husband's side living in the Turin area. Cathy ~~~

This has fasinated me for years. I would love it to be the genuine article. I don't know how they can prove it actually belonged to Jesus. Jo.

New tests have shown that the Turin Shroud could be the genuine article and have estimated that it is between 1,300 and 3,000 years old! Apparantly earlier tests had been carried out on a piece of material that had been darned into the "shroud" to try and repair it from rain damage!!! Wouldnt it be great if it was genuine??
