Hi Sue I have had tabby cats from being a small child - males and females - and not one of them has been nasty. We also had one we used to dress up in dolls clothes and put in a pram. I would seriously think about taking him to the vets for a check up to make sure there is nothing wrong with him. He is getting on a bit now so it wouldn't do any harm. My current moggy is nearly 19! hi stephen my dad has a british blue and no one could get near it if you walked past it it would just fly at you and grab the nearest part of your anatomy lol yet other times it was docile. dad took it to the vets and they discovered it had an abcess on its tooth. its worth getting it checked out. susie

Theresa, The second of our viscous tabby's used to sleep in he bed with me, but we did live in a caravan in the North of Scotland - and I had a hot water bottle - so I don't think it was love that led her to my feet LOL maggie

Stephen, I think you just have a nervous cat with no manners!!!(biting the hand that feeds him LOL) I have a 15 year old tabby, a stray(abandoned by the neighbours - hence I know her age) that adopted me when she was 6, after being feral for 2 years. She is extremely affectionate, and will only scratch when highly provocated - like when cornered by my Grand daughter! We did have a couple of 'scrappy' tabby's when I was small - I still have a scar from each of them, but I did dress them up in doll's clothes and put them in my pram - so I think they were severely provoked!! LOL maggie

I have an 11 year old cat who has had nothing but love and affection his whole life-but he is so nrevous he sheds ten pounds of fur when you sometimes get near him and he can be perfectly docile one minute then a savage fur ball the next.Does anyone know if it is true that tabby cats have wild side to them that is in there from nature or do I just have a demented pet From sue newton
