Great piece of detective work, Gramps. I once worked with a chap named Birtwistle. He married a lady whose surname was Hornblower. Everyone said they made 'sweet music' together. Good luck with the rest of your searches. CB >|<

Hi Jim, wow, 40 years compared to my 1 - mmm, no comparison really, is there, lol. You say you can't claim all the credit, but you've still achieved a lot! Glenys.

Glenys, My Research over the past 40 years has only taken me back to around 1650 so I can't take the praise, I am only Vacuuming up other peoples' work these days when there is a link to mine.

Gawd Jim, I'm still in the mid-1800's at the moment! Er - with my ancestors, you understand. You've put me to shame, lol. But congratulations anyway. Glenys x

I am in contact with a 6th cousin on my Mother's side who sent me a copy of her Tree, which although not particularly huge has one line (Birtwistle) going back to Piers in 1465. As I am into Classical Music I wondered if there was any link to the Composer Harrison Birtwistle. So I Googled. No link found to Harrison, but I did find a Tree going back to Ralph, born 1160 who was granted land in Bridtwisell in 1260. Sure enough there was Piers, a descendant. Unfortunately the bloodline is down to my cousin's husband, but I can still live in the hope that one of my Ag Labs might lead me back as far.
