Germany slaps piracy tax on PCs

Germany has imposed a 12% tax on new PC's as they can be used to copy copyrighted material. The tax is similar to that levied on Blank video tapes. The purpose is to compensate copyright holders for their losses. The tax will also be applied to printers and scanners. Now that puts German PC manufaturers at a disadvantage so they may fight to either have it removed or have it levied across the EU. Prices here may eventually go up! :-(
