Well thank you Chrisitine for making me feel clever NOT!!! Here do they have Bairns in totteridge lane? is that in Scotland where Fred comes from then? never knew that? and is that a celtic word or just slang???

Luciacw

Luciacw Report 5 Feb 2005 00:59

Well Christine, I know that there are four parts of intelligence but forgot what they are. Anyway IQ tests don't measure all of these parts so they are inaccurate..that's all I know about it. Lucia :-)

Pat

Pat Report 5 Feb 2005 01:00

Where did you get that Christine? They say people like us who have all these facts thingys are not necessarily brainy??? yes I think they meant me there lol. Oh thats good Im alright then?.

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 5 Feb 2005 01:01

Pat I was just PMSL at Freds post...true you have to watch what they say in front of the bairns They say Bairns in Newcastle too...Don't in Glasgow though. Glasgow say the same as Northern Ireland Weans (pronounced wains)!!

John

John Report 5 Feb 2005 01:02

I think I can say you must be Bond fans! Judi Dench is the current M John Cleese replaced the original Gadget whiz Q, Desmond Lleweyll, and yes Mrs Bond was Diana Rigg, shot dead in the closing scenes "On His Majesty's Service" the only time a Bond film ended that way as usually Bond ends up with the girl.

Pat

Pat Report 5 Feb 2005 01:02

Right ok confused, weans as a weaned infant ok but bairns? and it crossed the border then? is it celtic or slang?

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 5 Feb 2005 01:03

No Pat that was off the TV TEst The Nation programme...hardly a real IQ test! I"m ok on general knowledge but never likely to make Mensa! LOL

Luciacw

Luciacw Report 5 Feb 2005 01:04

Pat, from my dictionary: bairn bairn [bairn] (plural bairns) n Scotland Northern England child: a young child [Old English bearn . Ultimately from an Indo-European word meaning ‘to carry, bear children’, which is also the ancestor of English bear, bring, suffer, and metaphor.] :-)

Pat

Pat Report 5 Feb 2005 01:05

Yeah but they say people who can remember facts aint clever just got the memory. IQs are different aint they? problem and puzzle solving with the rest, wonder where I would come, I think I might be too embarrased to try.

John
