I should send him a message via the GR message system Brian. After 11 years he may not be logging in very often. |

Hi Sean, I've found Prospect Row on an old map. My nan used to live there with her family. It's pretty much where you said, close to the Channel Sea River. The map's a bit fiddly...you have to zoom in and out but a detailed map eventually appears. |

I have just looked on the old-map.co.uk site and it is not at all easy to see. Even magnified to the highest no roadnames could be seen. Kathlyn |

Hi Sean, I see you have a location - opposite end of Stratford from where mum grew up! The Essex Record Office may be able to help you with a map, or else Stratford Library Local Studies. Maz. XX |

Thanks to some help on another message board. I have been able to find out that Prospect Row was located very close to the modern day Channelsea Rd and Burford Rd inStratford so that solves the location issue. The clue came from the 1871 census taker's notes about the area south of Stratford high St. This makes sense as the next street on the 1881 was Channelsea Street and New road. So the only thing left is to locate an old detailed map of Stratford circa 1871-1881 when I know the row existed, Sean |
