I am trying to find my grandfather Thomas Reed who died off the mouth of the River Tyne in Newcastle. The boat he was on, called the pilot cutter called 'Protector' was blown up by a German mine on 31/12/1916. He was married to Catherine Reed (nee Lisle) and they had two sons at the time,Thomas aged approx 8 years and Lisle aged 1 month. Can anyone help Regards Syd Reed
