Clever clogs Allan. :-)

I think of Mr. M. often and sometimes I even spend a few minutes looking for him.

Have you put a provision in your will bequeathing those watercolours to the military museum in Kingston? I always meant to pick up a copy of the book that the pic of the Toronto barracks was published in. I figured *I* should autograph it for the author, since I was the one who got the whole thing figured out!

:-D

Well, except for who painted the things...

Because once you've found it you stop looking, so that becomes the last place you looked

I still wish that I could find my Clifford!

Ah, but can you really ever look *everywhere*? :-D

ZZzzz Report 29 Apr 2023 19:58

JoonieCloonie, because you have looked everywhere else? ;-)

Speaking of looking for lost things ..........

Why is it that they are always in the last place you look?

;-)

Yeah. No.1 and the refrigerator. If what he wanted was behind something else, he would starve, because it obviously was (a) invisible, or (b) not there.

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Yesterday, OH announced that it was a lovely evening so he was going to go for a long walk. True, it was the first sunny warm day this month, and it doesn't get dark until around 8 pm

That was just before 6 pm, then he said he wanted his little camera.

45 minutes later, he was still in the house, having apparently searched everywhere, including the car (???) with no success. It is a small black camera, but still .............

I told him to go and get his walk in, and I would keep my eyes open as I moved around the house.

Looked around as I walked through the kitchen, nope. Went into the family room to use the computer, lifted 2 newspapers that were lying on the settee ................... under the 2nd one was a small black camera :-D

Luckily, he still hadn't left the house ............ it only took me about 2 minutes!

I think he tends to not REALLY look under things when he's looking for something. He'll pick up 5 newspapers together if they are lying in a pile, then I may well find it under paper #3.

Men!

I needed some black screws, for a pole I was putting up in the kitchen - no, not a dance pole :-P

I knew I had some 'somewhere' in the shed.
I opened the shed door.

Well, those black screws weren't too expensive - and now I'm a pensioner my bus journey in to town was free! :-D :-D :-D

I usually try to think where I saw it last. If that doesn't work I mentally retrace all my steps since I last knew where it was.

It usually works ........ but it drives OH crazy why I try to do it for stuff that he has mislaid.

I'm with Island.

Only a lot more, and more varied, and louder.

I do find that magical thinking works sometimes.

It has worked with genealogy: Today, I AM going to find (whichever ancestor had eluded me for 5 years). And I do.

Sometimes it works with lost objects. More often, it just gets very loud in here.

I dropped a camera battery as I was struggling to put it back into said device. Didn't hear it hit the carpet. Stood very still and peered all around. Dropped to the floor and widened search with hands before getting a torch. Eventually inspected the entire carpet. Gave up. A few days later thinking the obvious - 'blasted thing has to be somewhere'. It was behind the armchair which is across the other side of the room :-S :-S Ritual - curse and move an unlikely item of furniture.

It wasn't even just under the armchair as if I'd caught it with my foot but right behind it :-S

:-D @ Island lol.

I try to visualise where I last saw the thing in relation to something else, it does usually work. There's always asking St Anthony?

I have a ritual. Get angry and say ffs several times. Takes days sometimes.

No ritual.
I find they usually turn up somewhere unexpected, when you are not actively looking for them.

ZZzzz Report 25 Apr 2023 14:24

Is there a ritual that you go through to find such things, my Mother in law used to have a pin in one hand, a cushion in the other hand, do 3 circles with the pin saying I pin the devil the stick the pin in the cushion, don't know if it worked though.
