Well, I sent off my letter in response to the Council's lack of response. I think it makes it obvious that I am not a happy bunny.
I'm not normally this rude/sarcastic, but I'm starting year 3 of this fiasco as I mean to go on!!
A person can only take so much - and I've had more than enough.
It's also the first time I've ever put my degree after my name

Good morning
Well, not such a good morning, or start to the third year I've been in this 'place'. No-one turned up on Friday.

Just to make sure I wasn't being a total idiot - I have had 2 years of being treated like one - I asked a few friends and family members what
they understood the last paragraph to mean. Like me, they read it as 'An appointment has been made, if it doesn't suit you, contact Mr W'.
It appears, we were all wrong.

I have no idea why I expected anything else. Almost every job (apart from those done by 'DXXX') has involved at least 2 visits, the first to bodge the job, then a long wait for the second/third visit to repair the bodge.

Perhaps I'm wrong about the damp. After all, it has been referred to as 'suspect'.
Since both my cats have died, after succumbing to inhalation of asbestos dust, it could be gravity defying mouse droppings. I mean, what would I know?

If you wish to make another appointment (obviously at your convenience, I mean, why should I have a life?), I would prefer it if you didn't do it via the 'My Winchester' page, as I no longer look at my emails every half hour in the hope someone may find a small gap in their busy schedule.
My mobile number is 0xxxxxxxxxxx landline 0xxxxxxxxx. Text, if you'd rather not speak to me - even I wouldn't want to speak to me at the moment.

Regards

my name BA(Hons)

Well, I've received an email apology within the hour, and a promise of a phone call by the end of the day..
They're brave, but I expect it will be an innocent admin person, and I will be very nice to them :-D

Fingers crossed.

Enjoyed the pm. Just take a deep breath when the phone rings.

I,m not responsible for any other annoying calls you might get as I didn’t jot down the numbers :-D

Well, a phone call just after I'd posted, and 10 minutes later he's here!! :-
So rapid clear up needed - I'd just had my grocery delivery.

I'm going to get an automatic vent in the bathroom.
The kitchen ceiling (very old artex) is going to be plastered by the company I like - I know from experience, that the artex would have started peeling when painted.,

They're going to change all windows sometime in the next 2 years. but I'm going to get new kitchen windows very soon, with a small window I can open, and they're going to ensure the internal kitchen door closes properly

Then we had a chat about undelivered messages, and Pompey Dockyard - he worked there too!

This poor surveyor has made so many wrong assumptions in an effort to save money - the condensation in the bedroom was apparently caused by my breathing was a good one - it was a trickling radiator, that had been leaking for so long, it went straight through the tiles and left no puddle. He also said only 6 - 8 tiles needed removing - they've all gone now. Anyway, he's made so many wrong assumptions that I seem to be able to point out the problems to him, and they're done!

Good news, but saving the flags until it is done.

Thanks, Florence.

True, Names but as long as they've paid the firm for doing the second bedroom, they should be along to do the ceiling soon.
If the Council haven't paid them (it took the Council 3 months to pay them last time), they will hear from me again! Last time, I asked if the 'hierarchy' would be happy being paid 3 months in arrears, and if they wouldn't why would anyone else??. :-D :-D :-D

...and so the farce goes on!! :-D :-D

Last week, I had an email asking me to fill in a Customer Complaints Feedback Survey, and it gave a complaint number.

I replied asking when this was, as I didn't have that complaint number
It seems it was for the complaint I made in December - which was an email to the hierarchy and local Councillors, basically saying what I thought of their system, arguing that they can't just send huge bills demanding money with no explanation or information, and that I'd had enough. I also mentioned the new formation of mould in the kitchen.
They'd given it a number, but not informed me.
They'd also sent a new Council Tax bill - where I was in credit.

As I don't bank online, I went into town on Friday and got a statement printed out.
Oh, what a surprise - they hadn't paid back the Council Tax they owed me, and I hadn't heard when any of the repairs would be carried out.

About 10am this morning, I filled in the Survey pointing out that it's all very well saying things, but, yet again nothing had been done, and where's my money?.

Half an hour ago, my mobile nearly took off - one text after another.

It was the jobs they're going to do - but only a definite date for 1.
Of course, I don't know what job that is. I'll just have to wait for the letter!

Unfortunately, and rather embarrassingly, they had 2 jobs listed twice with different job numbers.
I contacted them put the repeated jobs and their numbers - and pointed out I only had 1 kitchen ceiling to plaster, and 1 bathroom extractor fan.

I'm getting really embarrassed for them.

Probably a good thing that you’ve not got council elections this year ( I think). I wouldn’t want to be the candidate on your doorstep ;-) ;-)

Annoying if you don’t know whether to clean an tidy up your kitchen or bathroom :-\

maggiewinchester Report 23 Jan 2023 16:59

I've got over 2 weeks before they come and do the first job.
If I don't hear within 3 days of the due date,, Ill contact them.

The kitchen job will mean clearing every surface - no way am doing that for no reason!!
