I think Maggie is about right! With about twice as many petrol cars on the road compared to diesel cars plus all the diesel commercial vehicles.The business and commercial vehicle owners are considered less likely to shop around for cheaper fuel so the cost is loaded onto diesel to keep the petrol customers happy.

Our district council are converting their fleet to hydro treated vegetable oil (HVO)!! I wonder how much that is at the pumps!!

very likely due to the pollutants coming off diesel - trying to get people to buy electric cars or those that use petrol

Weird isn't it - especially as the wholesale cost of fuel has dropped.

I'd put it down to the greed of wholesalers and retailers.

Any economist out there who can explain why the pump price of diesel over petrol has increased from a few pence to over twenty?
