Joy
Sorry can’t help really. I haven’t grown them this year but I follow a group of Gardeners

online and it has been a frequently asked question regarding cosmos this year with

people having varying degrees of success or failure due to the weather. The height

does seem to vary but I think some seem to have grown spectacularly tall due to the weather.

It’s now raining. ;-)

I expected them be bedding to fill the soil around one of our rhodos, Gwyn, but it has been hidden by them. I planted the seeds straight into the garden and I m wondering if I picked up a pack of exceptionally tall ones by mistake. No matter, they are blooming beautifully - a few white, a lot of pink, a few deep cerise and one wallflower! We have never grown wallflowers so I think it must have crept into the seed packet unseen. :-D

Gosh that's tall Joy :-0

I hope Von can help.

What I do know is that cosmos seem to have thrived well this year even in the extreme conditions.
Some have even self-seeded onto our drive from a nearby garden and are doing very well, flourishing on neglect :-S
Never happened before.

Von, you are the gardener so may I ask is it usual for cosmos to reach over five feet in height?

Good morning Joan, Maddie and Von. <3 :-D

Gwyn, I use a glass and a sheet of paper to catch bees so similar to your spider catching.

We used to have some sizeable huntsman spiders in our house which we were always happy about. :-D

Morning Joan, Maddie and Von :-)

I hope they are successful today. I remember watching the moon landings all those years ago.

Spiders in the lounge are tolerated, but daughter hates the thought that one might crawl on her at night :-0

Morning all :-D <3

Bright and sunny here :-D :-D

Just waiting for the rocket to take off. I do hope they manage to get it into orbit today

otherwise it looks like another failed mission :-(

Hope you can catch the spider Gwyn. We have a huge on in the lounge and another

lurking amongst the bricks under our water butt. ;-) ;-)

Morning to everyone.
Bright & sunny here but quite windy, not gale force but enough to blow off plenty of leaves from the trees, not looking forward to having to sweep them up on a daily basis!
I have been into the garden already as I had to water my recently planted new plants & my Bonsai trees, we really need some rain now as my bowie is almost empty once again.

Hope evryone has a nice day / weekend, Take care.

Joan..

Joy, This was a big hairy one, which was on the ceiling just outside daughter's room... She hates them, but is OK for us to catch them with see-through cup and a card to hold them in place. They are then taken across the road to some open ground.

The spider was too high to reach, so we got a long tube with plastic cup over the bottom open end, then tried to manoevre it to a nearer position.
Not sure quite what happened, but we lost it and it's gone scuttling off to hide ( in her clothes, she suggests ? :-0 )

She has now gone out with my elder daughter, so I have all the 'kit' upstairs ready in case it reappears :-0

Morning Fly and Gwyn. <3 :-D

Spiders Gwyn. :-S

We have a daddy-long-legs which has set up home in our downstairs loo and I always greet it when I have ‘to go’. I like the way they get rid of horrible insects.

Damp underfoot here and more expected. Not cold though.
