An article in the local newspaper today states how a keen metal detectorist has been searching at a disused former American air base.

He as found lots of buttons, bullets etc, but also found 2 ID bracelets and six dog tags. He found a Facebook page for the squadron formerly based there and has managed to return these to family members.

Seven of the eight items he returned belonged to servicemen who made it home after the war, the item belonging to the man who didn't make it must have been especially precious to the family.
