Shame it was done so badly :-)

Last week I noticed a group of men with clipboards walking up and down the Close.
Then i had a piece of paper put through my letterbox - they were contractors, who'd been hired by the council to 'do 'External Decoration Works'.

I was intrigued.
All the windows and doors are UPVC. The guttering and downpipes are plastic, and the soffits are asbestos. I have 2 holes in my soffit, one of which was used by a pair of House Sparrows earlier this year.

Today, in the rain, I watched 2 men get out of a car, put on hi-vis jackets and identity cards. They then proceeded to clean the UPVC.
Unfortunately, in their enthusiasm, they've made my windows smeary.

This was their 'External Decoration Works' :-S

How much did it cost to have a gang of 'middle management' walking up and down the roads with clipboards, identifying houses ?
I bet they were on more money than the 2 who messed up my windows!

It also looks like my House Sparrows can come back to nest in my house again next year :-D :-D (they're still around)

Oooh, the power of a hi-vis jacket.... Doesn't make them better workers though :-|

Sounds a grand title for making a mess of your windows.

When I was in a small town near here recently, I saw 2 men, suited and booted but no hi-vis, who appeared to be checking out the town library exterior.
One had a clip board and they both wore white hard hats :-S

Not sure what they needed protection for, but I will look to see if Kent have similarly got money to spare for External Decoration Works.

The 'officials' didn't have hi-vis on, but it took them nearly an hour to 'note' the 20 bungalows in the road. Perhaps the fact that there are 3 different designs confused them!

I'd have wiped my window frames for £20 - probably a lot less than it cost.
Actually, I'd cleaned the back frames 2 weeks ago - while I was cleaning the windows, that they've now smeared. . :-(

Just think if you’d just paid to have your windows cleaned ;-)

We paid to have out guttering and sofixs cleaned plus all the white boards on the house. OMG the state of the windows I was praying for rain dfor weeks in the hope it would wash the muck off. Yesterdays rain ( thank god) didn't seem to do that job as I can see a cobweb outside from where i am sitting :-|

I have no problem with cobwebs or spider's eggs on the outside of the windows.

I was woken up one morning by something tapping on my window.
I carefully opened the blind a bit, put me specs on, and lay back in bed.

It was my House sparrow family munching on the contents of the cobwebs
:-D

They do it on the living room window too, and I swear they look straight at me :-S

Methinks they know what windows are (objects that humans cant get past, but a way of watching the funny things) :-D :-D
