Drama in The Park this morning we helped find a lost dog <3

A dog had run out of the door of its dog sitter about a mile from The Park. The owners who were not from this area had been searching for her. We'd seen a dog running loose which disappeared into some bushes but we thought it was a dog we knew. About an hour later a distraught owner came into The Park whistling and calling the dogs name. In desperation he asked whether we'd seen his dog, Tina and showed us a picture. We told him about the dog we'd seen and showed him were we thought she had gone into the bushes. After a few minutes of calling her name, she suddenly very gingerly appeared <3 The owner was overwhelmed <3. He and his wife had been looking for Tina for well over two hours in an area that they didn't know :-0. The dog was overjoyed to see the wife <3. Tina had hurt her front paws but they were off to take her to the vets.

So pleased we'd found her, I know how I would have felt if it had been Ralph...all's well that ends well <3 <3

Morning Fly, Von, Maddie and Belle :-)

Belle, how lovely to have helped the owners to be reunited with Tina.
Great that she came to a dog-friendly place, where people could help.

After a quick, but fierce cloudburst yesterday, it cleared for the rest of the evening and it's warm, bright and sunny today.

Got to investigate where the tumble drier vent is to the outside. The heavy rain got in there somehow yesterday, so I've got to remove the soggy old towels we left there incase of an overnight storm and see if there is a gap that needs attention. :-|

Morning Fly, Von, Maddie, Belle and Gwyn. <3 :-D

Pleased to hear that the dog was found, Belle. It must have been quite nervous because it was unfamiliar with that area. <3

Dry and bright here with the sun making an attempt!

I've come across something fascinating while doing my bestie's Tree. One of her direct ancestors was a John Baker, described in Durham St Oswald's Baptism Register in 1805 as a Soldier in the Army of Reserve, native of North America.

He must have been here well before that as he married Elizabeth Petrie (Petry) on 13.09.1800 at St Oswald's too. (Elizabeth was from Yorkshire.)

It fascinated me because I wondered what had brought him to England when at that time most people (my own ancestors included) were travelling in the reverse direction. I have not searched American Records but I will get around to it in time.

Morning Gwyn <3 :-D

Was the Venetian carnival able to go ahead :-0

If you do find a gap, have a look at expanding foam which you get in a canister and see if that is suitable for outside gaps, if I recall it may be :-)

Belle, OH got a letter this morning from the LA stating that he did not have to pay the parking fine he incurred on Saturday so he must have been charming and persuasive in the Council Parking Office ….. or he must have looked down and out and unlikely to be able to pay. ;-) :-D

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 18 Aug 2022 13:00

Afternoon everyone :-)

Yes, the Venetian fete went ahead.
It's usually every 2 years, in the 'odd' year, but because of last years uncertainty, when booking traders etc. it was delayed another year, so people of that town invest a lot of time planning the event.
Because we had a deluge late afternoon, the nearby area ear-marked for the firework display had a good soaking, so it was deemed safe enough to go ahead, when it got dusk and was spectacular, although I don't really like fireworks much.
I was worried for a dog we had seen earlier, wearing an Autism helper harness, but he seemed completely unbothered and quite relaxed next to his host family.

Daughters and I went along, complete with towels and bin bags for if we had more rain, but it stayed dry.
I know quite a few people in that area, but there was nobody we knew on floats this time....must be getting old !
Some quite small organisations had put a lot of time and effort into their entered floats and they looked good.
To me, there seemed to be less people attending. Usually, in previous years, you can just pay on the day, but this year everything had to be pre-booked online unless you went into the one local agents.
Be interesting to see how figures add up, because lower numbers might be off-set by less insurance costs if there was no money paid on the gate that night.

Belle
The expanding foam might be just what is needed... thank you.
I will investigate.

Von Report 18 Aug 2022 13:09

Joy that’s good news about the fine. <3

Belle good that you were able to help reunite owners with dog. <3

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 18 Aug 2022 13:53

Joy, good news about the fine as I said I argued the toss a number of years back so things might have changed, although the company involved was a private firm working on behalf the local council :-| :-)

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 18 Aug 2022 13:58

Pleased the Venetian Fete was able to go ahead, Gwyn :-). It would have been awful if they had had to cancel it due to the weather especially after the gorgeous weather we'd had :-0

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 18 Aug 2022 14:03

Von, it's so strange how things all click into place.....we could have been walking in the opposite direction and not seen where the dog had gone. Also, we were on our way out and a few minutes later would not have bumped into the owner:-0

Tina was meant to be found <3
