For 1765, it gives the mothers name as Sarah so am I to assume that that is her maiden name, if so is there a way I can find out who his Father is. :-D

If you tell us the child's name, we can have a look.


I'm assuming you're talking about a baptism record.
If no father is named, Sarah was unmarried, and so her maiden surname will be the same as the child's surname.
Sarah will be her first name.

Also, if no father is named, you're unlikely to be able to find out for sure who the father was.

Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.

Sometimes a baptism for back then will have a note by the priest (presumably) as to the name of the father.

In small villages everyone knew everything ;-) :-D

It might be work checking to see if the local archives have any bastardy bonds or other claims which might name the father.
