Bad memories!
When we lived in Essex, we had ducks.
We 'rescued' a drake from our neighbour,(Mandrake AKA 'Manny') and brought him a mate. - .Peggy.
We thought we'd eat the eggs, but Peggy had her own agenda

We let the ducks roam free in the day, but locked them up at night,, but Peggy had different ideas and disappeared into the woods next to our house.
Then the grouse shooting started.
I heard them outside the house, went outside, and explained the situation.
They could shoot - but not Peggy.

They went away, and a week later, Peggy reappeared with 14 duckings in tow

and in 10 days time it will be 55 years since we left Manchester Airport to live on this side of the pond.
