I'm always surprised at the number of people walking or running in the park at that time, Fly ;-) :-D :-D

No Von today :-0

Am going to try me sultana cake later :-D :-D

Am reading a book about a family from Vienna who owned a cinema, they were Jewish and a few of them fled to other countries….a son who came to the UK was later interned by the British Government….I was not aware of them being able to do that :-(

Yes but there is a lack of UK goods since Brexit.

Nowhere as great as UK - petrol here is cheaper for a start. Although electricity is going up we don't have central heating and only used 8 gas bottles for winter at about £12 for the 10 kg of gas.

Google always comes to the rescue Ann :-D

There was fear that anyone with a German accent could be a spy. Jewish refugees were put into internment camps with other German and Austrian people, including those who were Nazi sympathizers.

:-0 :-( :-0

If they come from the wrong country the authorities would have to be careful.

OH's gt grandmother was German, she was married to a Dutch man and in WW1 she had an ID card stating she was Dutch by marriage. She had to take her ID card to the local police station every week.

Local food has always been good value - there's lots of salads and fruit in summer :-D
