I have a family member on holiday in Greece. Yesterday at 4am their time, 2am here, they received a text which said,
" You have been in contact with someone who has Covid and are advised to get a test." This came via NHS England. An ordinary text as they have only a non smart phone.

I thought all this track & trace alerts had finished? Im wondering if its a scam?

Has anyone else had texts still like this recently? They are not able to get a test anyway and feel perfectly well. Not due back to uk until Friday anyway..

I told the person to ignore it.

I thought Track & Trace had stopped. But there are T&T scams out there.

The NHS Covid App is still running although the government Track & Trace programme has ended. I've recently had Covid and registered a positive lateral flow test, the NHS notified me and sent a code for use with the app. I haven't used it as I doubt I will flag any close contacts. It's all automated, hence the odd timings.

This message was sent via text not app as the person doesnt have a smart phone. I am beginning to think its a fake/scam message.

How would NHS England know that this person was in contact with someone who has tested positive if they dont have the app and are out of the uk?

There are scams running too

I got a text saying I had been identified as someone who had been on contact with someone who has tested positive for covid and to click on below for info etc

Now as I had only been to the hospital and everyone was masked etc I was ??

A little while later my daughter came to visit and I mentioned it to her and she was you don’t have a track and trace app on your phone so it’s a scam

Now I wouldn’t normally click on any website in a message but I must admit I nearly did on this one as I am very wary at the mo of picking up any infection having only three plus weeks from a chemo :-(
