A relative of my maternal cousin’s daughter’s husband took a big chunk of ‘our’ family tree and added it to her own. Not only did she have our surname wrong, she had numerous other errors wrong too. When I contacted her to tell her she ignored me and still has the wrong name etc. So misleading for others !

Michele .................

most of us do not use the records on GR.

There are much better records, many for free. For example, FreeBMD, FreeReg, GRO

Maybe a typo on one of the entries or a mistrancription

Some of the typed records are hard to read as blurred so 3 can look like 8 etc

The number of the entry for both my relatives is the same, but it doesn’t match any of the other entries on the marriages. I guess it doesn’t matter as I know the correct marriage but anyone else looking may be sent off on a wild goose chase!

If it’s just a marriage entry then it will be those on the same page entry but you would have to work out who the couples are

It may just be too you have found a name that is the same as the one you are looking for but it’s a different person

It’s surprising how many people have the same names

Depends on where you are finding the information.

If it is on Member Trees, then you would have to contact every tree owner and tell them. Then hope that a) they are still alive and active on here, and b) that they pay attention to you!

Hi
I have found relatives on Genes where it is saying that a person married one of these people but none of them are the person they actually married. Is there a way of correcting the information?
Thanks Michele
