Thanks Annx :-)

It's now beginning to look more like home.

The cat has settled in but still wants to explore the garden, but we are having to be cautious with that as, despite his age, he still can scale fences and on one side of us there are at least two dogs on the property.

Thank you all :-)

Internet connection transferred successfully as was the transfer of our 'old' landline number.

OH is going back this morning to let the cleaners in and bring back some more plants.

Technically we still have the use of the old house until Sunday as that is the date that the rental period expires.

However, OH spoke to the owners of the old property and as they are up in Port Hedland, nearly 2,000 kms away, and they are still undecided what to do with the house, they have asked us to hang onto the keys for the time being.

A very weird situation as the previous owners of our 'new' house have only moved a couple of streets away.

They put this house on the market as they bought a bigger caravan which wouldn't fit at the side of the house :-S

In my experience, it's not the actual moving of the stuff to the new house which can be the problem.....BUT......finding it once you get there. Yes you mark the boxes up but something will take forever to find trust me....
Glad to hear it all went well Allan and may the cat settle down quickly.

Hope you soon settle in, it will soon become your home not just a house.
We haven't moved for over 40 years and hope now we don't have to.

Enjoy your new home for many years.

Ginnie.

Good luck in your new home Allan, I hope that you will both be very happy there and that it will soon feel like home to you both...... and the cat!

Ah, but, did you check the loft, Allan? ;-)

I typed that jokingly but when our daughter and her OH moved into their first home together the previous owners had left several things in the loft (including some armed forces memorabilia). Luckily, they had not moved too far away so daughter was able to take the stuff to them and they hadn’t even missed it!

Seriously, I hope you and your OH settle into your new home and surroundings quickly and enjoy your time there.

Good luck … but I am sure you’ll make your own. :-D

Glad that the move went so well, Allan :-D

One of you would have discovered the missing items when it came to making the next meal, so look on searching for the cat a good move.

Yesterday we moved into our new (for us) house.

Removal went well. About four hours to load ant two and a half to offload.

The cat had gone AWOL while all this was going on so after lunch we went to find him, which we did. I walked into our old kitchen and saw a stack of dirty plates, then opened a cupboard, all our crockery was still there. Opened another drawer, there are all our pans :-0

Another couple of trips methinks, particularly as we have arranged for some cleaners to come in tomorrow. Fortunately it is only five miles between houses

Ah well! The proverbial happens
