It seems that Prince Andrew has settled his case out of Court

Strange that they couldn't come up with the original photo of Andrew and what's her name, isn't it?

I think he was pressured to do that, due to the upcoming celebrations and I also think he will be in the background, keeping his head down etc etc.

In the background? I don’t think he will get that far forward.

He is now the pariah in the royal family and I can see no way back to public life for him at all.

He did wrong - not by having sex with someone so much younger than him (that is not a rarity) but by keeping company with traffickers if he knew they were traffickers. They certainly strove to keep some powerful and wealthy men happy by all accounts.

Initially, I thought he ought to settle to save his family more embarrassment but when he did not do so I wondered whether he was going to rely on the less salubrious fact that was reported that Virginia Roberts Guiffre had spoken about not being shackled in the conventional way but rather ‘My shackles to Ghislaine and Epstein were wealth and the powerful people they knew.’

I was quite surprised to hear mention of VRG’s sister as I had mistakenly believed that she had no family to turn to if she’d walked away from M and E as one girl was reported to have done so.

I wonder whether other friends of M and E - and I have read/heard of two powerful well-known married men mentioned - are on tenterhooks or have they settled quietly, out of the public eye.

I really don’t know what to make of the whole unsavoury debacle apart from the fact that it appears to me that greed and lust are still prime movers in the world we live in. Nothing changes!

My sympathy is with the Queen who in no way warranted yet another disappointment in her later years, a disappointment that reminded me of the way in which some royal family members seem to mistakenly believe they can live in the same way that royalty did several centuries ago - and get away with it!

I do hope that she enjoys her jubilee year as she deserves to.

Thought he had no recollection of meeting her !!

She must have been in Pizza Hut the same time as him

Seriously though he was an idiot, yes he was single and she was a willing pro but his association with Epstein and ghislaine were very much unsavoury to his royal status

He knew Ghislaine first it seems but when Epstein was first convicted of sexual abuse he shouid have cut all ties

Probably didn’t because he had free access to young women !

He was /is a very week but arrogant man

It’s all come back to bite him in the bum and pocket now !

Doubt very much now if he can redeem himself even in a small way

He is certainly that, Ann, and unemployable now, I’d say.

How stupid though, whatever the truth is. In his position he could have had any of his associates like E checked out, but it would seem he knew what was going on anyway and didn't want anyone to find out. Stupid too to go and see E when things were coming out. Almost like they were getting their stories straight and planning what to say and do. Even if he did nothing wrong himself as he keeps protesting, fancy in his position with so much to lose, even associating with these people at all. Arrogant as some say to think he could do as he liked and for someone not to let the cat out of the bag at some point.

It is sad for the Queen, who it seems may be putting her hand in her purse to pay the settlement, to have this have happen with her Platinum Jubilee imminent having lost her husband too. I hope A keeps his head down and a low profile so the family can enjoy the celebrations without his 'cloud' over them. I'm sorry for his 2 daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie too who are happy and settling into family life. What do they tell their children about grandad?? It's not a skeleton that can be kept in the cupboard is it. He's tainted all their lives, even if it is only by association, and which we will never know now.
