Kucinta is correct, the Find Existing facility is there for that very reason, it was added about ten years ago when there was a major tree update.

You may find, when using it, that it apparently duplicates some people on your full tree display. One of the boxes for a duplicated person will contain an icon in the bottom right corner that tells you it is a copy and the main box is elsewhere.

There is an option, when you 'add spouse' to either 'add new', or 'find existing'. I assume you could use the 'find existing' tab to pair up the two distant descendants, but haven't tried it myself.

Edit The 'find existing' enables you to input the details of the second descendent, who I assume is already recorded on your tree, once that person's record is found in your tree, the tree builder programme links the two records as spouses.

I have a number of these. The closer ones I just duplicate 1 person entry and put in notes to follow the other line.
Further back or away from the main line I just put in notes where to find the rest of the family.

Hi if you have a descendant in your tree that marries a distant descendent.
Is there a way of connecting them? Or do you have to duplicate all the relative information for both stems?
