I once had a problem with a product in Lidl so I took it back, quietly asked for a manager, had him replace it and asked if I could have them find out whatthe problem was.

Strangely, I thought, he thanked me for the way I had gone about things.

Then, last night, I saw on the news that a young lady had bought a carton of oat milk that was bad so she caused so much publicity that Lidl needed to recall an entire batch of it.

Never thought to do that!

Strange, isn't it, how some think the loudest noise is the most effective?
I mean, it's not the managers fault.

My sister gleaned high praise from the medical staff when her thyroid op went a bit haywire. When she got home, she had a haematoma (sp) internally, and she couldn't breathe. Her friend took her back, she had another op to sort it out, and was in ICU for a few days.
But the medical staff praised her because she didn't make a fuss,(though she was shaking|) so they didn't have to waste time calming her down before they could save her life!

I used to be a customer service advisor in a previous existance, and got all sorts of abuse from customers. Some started by demanding the number for Head Office, it was a chain, but I had to explain that no one there could help, it had to be done by the store. All HO did was ring us and tell us to deal with it within 24 hours and report back.

Another event in the same store, there was an elderly gentleman bringing back a television that he had bought i Lidl which did not work.

The manager that day was a stupid little shot glass who was giving the poor man grief. He was giving him all sorts of spurious garbage about being rude and going to the manufacturer.

Can't say I know much but I knew more than manager so I mentioned to the man that he had no contract with the manufacturer, Supply of Goods and Services.

As I loaded my car, he and the manager were going off to his.

I opened a packet of spoon sized Shredded Wheat a couple of weeks ago and there were about a dozen of them burnt to a crisp, they were very dark brown, I thought they were chocolate ones at first. I took a photo of them and the batch number on the box. I looked for ways to contact them and ended up doing it via Instagram. They got back to me straight away and asked me to post a sample so they could investigate. I wasn’t going to bother but it was just a large stamp to send them. I heard back very quickly and they sent me a cheque for £15 which was good

I had a sachet of cat food, that luckily, I could tell before I opened it, had been 'polluted' with maggots - the feel of the sachet gave it away, and the way it grew.
I emailed 'Purina' to inform them - and even offered to send it back or open it, and send a picture.
Strangely, they wanted neither, and just asked me to send a batch number,
They then sent me a voucher for a box of cat food :-D
