Now just got to post it.

They are done every five years in Oz. The actual Census date is 10th August, but if you know who is going to be away and who's going to be home you can complete it earlier :-D

Let's hope OH doesn't throw you out before the 10th then Allan :-D

Or, as she cheerfully puts it, 'One of us may drop dead before then!'

Coroner's verdict..Nagged to Death :-D :-D

That's a good point Allan. Imagine those poor researchers 100 years hence 's/he can't have been dead, s/he's on the census' or vice versa. It could create all sorts of conspiracy theories. :-D :-D

Do they ask how long you have lived in Australia and where were you born...or is that not PC?

Every 5 years is quite frequent.....

How old fashioned having to fill in a paper copy :-D

Gwyn, yes they ask for the year of arrival, but only if you are staying longer than a year. There is also a question as to whether or not you are an Australian Citizen (which we are)

There are also questions relating to where the respondent and any other persons in the house were born, as well as questions asking where their parents were born.

Linda, all households in Regional areas were sent a paper form but with a reference number and temporary password should the recipients wish to do it on line.

All Metropolitan households just received a reference no and temporary password to enable them to go on line, but they can still request a paper copy if they like.

Last Census (2016) when the ABS were encouraging people to fill out the form on line, the system was hacked and crashed and was out of commission for some considerable time; it was a total fiasco :-|
