No to funny nose, kidneys I don't know about, have fat knees .............

......... but I do have strange baby toes on both feet. That, I do know is an inherited trend through the Cadd side of the family.

I hadn't worked all the way down my body last night! :-D

Linda ...... it's encouraging that most people don't get the aids in far enough. I wonder, are we all scared we'll puncture the ear drum after being warned all our lives about pushing objects into our ears?

It can be very difficult to push the things “round the bend” I usually don’t get mine in as far as when the audiologist does. She said that very few people actually push them in far enough. Even so, they make a tremendous difference to my hearing, so I am happy with them

As for what is different with you, do you have knobbly knees?

Have you checked your kidneys?
Asks she, who only found out when she was 54, that she only had one, now named Kevin. :-D

I was fitted with temporary, "on loan" hearing aids yesterday. Had no problems going home with them in, plus a mask and my glasses, they all fit quite nicely.

My steps towards getting them were derailed by several things, including covid, and the hearing got worse during all those delays.

Hearing aid clinics here in BC are also all private, unless your hearing loss is due to work conditions when WorkSafeBC will pay the whole bill, or in a vehicle accident when that insurance might pay at least part of the cost. This is the same across Canada, I believe.

As a result, doctors do not refer you, so it is a matter of asking around where people went.

I'm happy with the choice I made based on that ................... but I do have to go to an ENT specialist, booked for October 12, and will probably need a CT scan to determine what really is wrong. I have a rigid and a partly rigid ear drum, and also loss of the sensory hairs after the cochlea. That much we know, what is unknown is what caused the ear drum problems and is it possible to fix them (probably not), and then what is the best hearing aid for me.

The pair I've got are small, battery operated, and all but invisible to see when worn .............. but I was told yesterday that I have an "unusual" problem which makes putting the thing a little more difficult.

The ear canal in everyone has a slight bend close to the ear drum, I apparently have a very tight bend :-)

Now, I've known for years that opticians, retinologists, etc all think I have a "unique" or "very unique" (dreadful phrase!) left eye because of something to do with the retina.

Now I have "unusual" ears.

what next?! :-D

Edited ca 2:45 am, correction of mistype.
