If 47% of positive results are of the vaccinated should we really be travelling to countries with a much lower vaccination record?

Don't forget even when you're fully vaccinated you can still get sick and/or pass the virus on to others people seem to forget that. I know here in Ontario there's very limited travel to other countries right now and they're pushing stay home and visit Ontario....which makes sense to see places closer to home that have no tourists coming in from around the World charity begins at home.

As Caroline says, even 2 jabs with quarantining for 2 weeks after the second jab before going out without taking any precautions does not mean that a person is immune to catching covid or to infecting other people.

Here in BC, we were only allowed to travel within the province for essential purposes until July 1st when restrictions were lifted. There were several provinces that we could not enter unless on essential travel. Travel outside Canada for any kind of travel (although the government has requested that for essential travel only) still requires going into quarantine for 3 days on return even if you had negative check less than 3 days before leaving your country of origin as well as a negative check on day of arrival here, unless you test positive on a check, on or before the 3rd day when you have to go into isolation.

Even our PM had to go into quarantine on arrival back from the G7 meeting in Cornwall, despite having had his 2 jabs.

Travel restrictions in BC were eased on July 1st because we had reached over 75% of all eligible people with at least 1 jab (it's now close to 85%) PLUS at least 35% of all eligible people having had 2 jabs.

Eligible people being all over the age 12.


As with Caroline, BC is pushing travel within BC, and enjoy the many beautiful things we have here. Our border with Alberta is now open as of 2 weeks ago, and AB is encouraging visitors from Canada, but some provinces still have more or less closed borders.

International travel into Canada is still somewhat limited ........... essential travel, returning Canadians & Permanent Residents, or close family members (basically parents or son/daughter)


I think many countries are watching the UK, and using it as an example of what NOT to do. As Boris opens up travel, businesses, recreation, etc only to have to close down and bring back strict restrictions 2 or 3 weeks later because of another surge in cases .......... and causing absolute chaos for those Brits who just had to on holiday to somewhere. Then they complain bitterly about having their holidays spoiled.

I'm on a couple of sites about immigrants to Canada, British in particular, and it gets sickening the complaining from people re Canada not opening its borders.

It's daft to do anything else, it is in fact giving in to business worries rather than thinking of people's health.


So, no I do not think you should be travelling is vaccinated people are returning with positive reactions to covid.

I wonder if that is something to do with the protection afforded by the vaccine used OR the variant being more resistant to the vaccine, OR a combination of both?
